ABOUT THE DOCTOR
Dr. Doulaverakis fell in love with orthodontics as a teen. She was amazed at how her orthodontist transformed her look and outlook on life by simply moving her teeth to where they should be in her mouth!
Dr. Doulaverakis received her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto, in Canada. She went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at Columbia University in New York where she received numerous awards for academic excellence. These included the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Society award for Outstanding Scholarship, the American Academy of Periodontology Award, the American College of Stomatologic Surgeons Award, the Dean’s Merit Scholarship for Outstanding Academic Achievement and Letters of Commendation for Superior Academic Achievement (three years in a row).
After completing dental school, Dr. Doulaverakis spent a year at Toronto's Mount Sinai Hospital as a General Practice Resident.
With strong clinical experience behind her, the doctor returned to New York where she worked as a general dentist while she studied at Columbia University once again--this time earning a Master's Degree and an Orthodontic Specialty Certificate.
Upon graduation, Dr. Doulaverakis worked as a Clinical Instructor of Dentistry in Columbia University's Department of Orthodontics. She also practiced orthodontics at several private practices. However, it was her contribution to St. Joseph's Children's Hospital in New Jersey that she was most passionate about.
At St. Joseph's, not only was Dr. Doulaverakis the clinical attending (staff orthodontist), but she instructed and lectured on combined orthodontic/orthognathic surgical cases to oral surgeon residents and general practice interns. She also served on the hospital's Cranial Facial Team treating children with a wide range of complex facial abnormalities and syndromes, including cleft lip and palate cases.
Dr. Doulaverakis relocated to Southern California in 2004, establishing her private practice in 2006. She is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, the California Dental Association, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, among other professional groups. She is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO). Involvement in the ABO's certification process is voluntary and demonstrates the doctor's pursuit of continued proficiency and excellence.
When the doctor is not working or taking continuing education courses, she enjoys hiking, camping, swimming and spending time with her family.
